Sturdie completed a major Safe City CCTV upgrade for the City of Holdfast Bay at Glenelg, Adelaide, utilising the highly capable Motorola IndigoVision System to enhance public safety across the precinct.
In today’s dynamic urban environment, ensuring the safety and security of residents, visitors, and businesses is paramount. The Safe City CCTV Project delivers a comprehensive surveillance solution designed to enhance public safety, enable rapid incident response, assist in crime prevention and investigation, strengthen public trust and transparency, and future-proof urban development.
Designed and delivered by Sturdie’s Secure Technologies business, the system is supported by established Safe City design principles. The solution enhances the urban experience for all stakeholders by reducing incidents of violence, deterring vandalism, and preserving the visual integrity of the public realm. The project was delivered through a rigorous tender process driven by three key criteria: Safe City principles, South Australia Police (SAPOL) requirements, and the operational needs of the City of Holdfast Bay.
The Sturdie team worked closely with the City of Holdfast Bay to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the project scope. This included the seamless integration of a wireless infrastructure network engineered to provide reliable connectivity across approximately 1.5km² of council-managed area.
The innovative solution equips SAPOL with strategically positioned pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras capable of detecting, monitoring, and tracking suspicious behaviour. When integrated with the broader fixed camera network, the system significantly improves situational awareness and reduces incident response times, enabling authorities to address issues quickly and effectively.
The solution also provides the City of Holdfast Bay with full operational control of the camera network, allowing council personnel to actively monitor community safety and respond rapidly to incidents as they arise.
The critical Safe City CCTV project is contributing to a safer, more secure environment for the Glenelg community.
