Morialta Secondary College

Sturdie was engaged to design, supply, and install the full electrical, communications, and security services package for the new Morialta Secondary College, built to meet growing enrolment demands in Adelaide’s north eastern suburbs on the former Norwood Morialta Middle School site.

The college comprises two three-storey learning buildings, a two-storey administration and performing arts building, a single-court gym, and associated landscaping, accommodating 1,200 students in Years 7 to 12.
Sturdie’s scope included over 3 km of underground trenching with pits and conduits for electrical and communications services, installation of more than 2,500 light fittings, 1,900 power outlets, 24 switchboards, and 1.5 km of cable tray across the multi-storey buildings and gymnasium.

Electrical works delivered by Sturdie included the design and installation of an energy monitoring system, rooftop solar array, C-Bus lighting control system, and Clevertronics Zoneworks XT Hive centrally monitored exit and emergency lighting system. Communications infrastructure featured a structured cabling system, while the security solution encompassed access control, CCTV, MATV, and hearing augmentation systems.

Sturdie delivered all services progressively in line with the construction program, from early design approvals and pre-engineering through to installation, commissioning, and final handover. The result is a modern, reliable, and future-ready electrical, communications, and security infrastructure that supports the college’s operation and enhances the learning environment for students and staff.
