The MECCA Flagship store at 299 Bourke Street is located within one of Melbourne’s most iconic heritage-listed buildings. Positioned in the heart of the CBD, the redevelopment required careful coordination and strict compliance with Heritage Victoria and Council requirements as the building underwent major architectural and building services upgrades. Spanning 4,000 square metres across three levels, the project delivers MECCA’s largest and most ambitious retail destination to date and represents a new benchmark for Australian beauty retail.
The flagship store officially opened on the 8th August 2025 and offers an immersive retail experience unlike anything previously seen in the local market.
Sturdie Secure Technologies was engaged directly by MECCA to deliver the complete electronic security services for the project, working collaboratively with the head contractor, Buildcorp. The scope included the design, supply, and installation of all security systems across the site, encompassing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Electronic Access Control, and Intrusion Detection systems.
Given the high value of merchandise and the prominence of the location, MECCA placed significant trust in Sturdie to deliver a robust, discreet, and high-end security solution that ensured the safety of products, team members, and customers without compromising the architectural intent of the space. Through detailed consultation and careful system design, Sturdie successfully delivered 100 percent CCTV coverage throughout the store, providing comprehensive visibility and protection across all levels.
This project further strengthened the long-standing partnership between MECCA and Sturdie, and we are proud to have contributed to the delivery of a landmark retail destination through the successful integration of advanced security solutions within a complex heritage environment.
